The National Statistical Office of Georgia is 105 years old. In this regard, a celebration ceremony dedicated to the anniversary date, was held on July 25.
Mr. Levan Davitashvili, First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Archil Talakvadze, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia, Mr. Gogita Todrazde, Executive Director of Geostat and Ms. Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia addressed the public at the event. Approximately 200 guests attended the ceremony, among them were members of the Government of Georgia and the parliament, representatives of international organizations and media, and Geosat employees.
Heads of statistical offices of the European Union, candidate countries, Eastern Partnership (EaP) and Central Asian countries and high-level representatives of international organizations came to Georgia to participate in the event related to the 105th anniversary.
The invited guests watched several videos specially prepared by Geostat for this occasion. Among them, a documentary film dedicated to the 105-year history of statistics. The film is based on historical facts, the history of the establishment of the office and its development during the century.
During the ceremony of 105th anniversary of Geostat, Mr. Gogita Todradze presented certificates of honor to the distinguished employees of Geostat, who have dedicated 55 years of work to the statistics system.
In addition, the Executive Director awarded all former heads of the National Statistics Office of Georgia with Geostat anniversary coins and acknowledging their significant contributions to the development of the statistical system.
