The Conference on Gender Equality

The conference titled “Data and Analysis for Strengthening the Gender Equality”, organized by the Inter-agency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, the National Statistics Office of Georgia and the Tbilisi office of United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA), was held on November 16.
According to the in-depth analysis of the 2014 General Population Census results, the parties mainly focused on the gender and the sex ratio by birth order.
The Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, Ms. Meri Daushvili emphasized the essence of the conference. The participants discussed the data production and the use of gender statistics. Preparing the reports is the main reason to inform the parties interested in the results of the Population Census, formulate the appropriate policy for the country and support the planning of the programmes - stated Ms. Meri Daushvili.
The event held at "Rooms Hotel" and was attended by the representatives of the Inter-agency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia, Geostat, scientific groups, think tanks, civil society and international organizations.
