The National Statistics Office of Georgia hosts the second mission of international experts, within the framework of the Regional Statistical Program (STEP) initiated by the Eurostat (Statistics through the Eastern Partnership).
The new project is funded by the European Commission and aims to help Eastern Partnership Countries to develop and strengthen capacity building of the official statistics at both regional and national levels. The project will continue for 3 years. Within the framework of the project is planned international experts mission in Georgia, as well as study visits of Geostat staff abroad for sharing international experience.
In the framework of the second mission, Eurostat expert - Mr. Thierry Coulet, the representative of the International Technical Assistance of France will meet with top management of National Statistics Office, Heads of subject matter departments, as well as with users and producers of official statistics (Ministry of Finance of Georgia, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the National Bank of Georgia).
The main topics for discussion are Business statistics, transport and energy statistics; National Accounts and Government Finance Statistics; Consumer Price and Producer Price Indices; Statistical Business Register and Business demography statistics; Foreign trade statistics, innovation, R & D (research and development) and ICT (international and communication technologies).
It should be mentioned that within the framework of the STEP program, Geostat hosted the first mission in March, 2019.
