The second season of inter-agency council was held in National Statistics Office of Georgia. The Inter-agency Council was established to elaborate 2020-2023 National Statistical Development Strategy and action plan, based on the Decree of the Government of Georgia. The Council consists of the representatives of eleven agencies and chairperson of the council is Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat.
During the meeting, Mr. Gogita Todradze introduced the members of the council with the stages of preparation of the strategic document, as well as with the draft document, and action plan and discussed the current challenges and future plans. According to him, the main objective of the document is to develop the National Statistical System, as well as to improve statistical data collection, processing, dissemination and use. In addition, the above-mentioned strategy is considered as a national policy document that includes medium and long-term perspectives for strengthening the capacity of statistical system in the country.
Along with the members of the council the season was attended by the representatives of the UNDP and local experts involved in preparation of the document.
Members of the Inter-agency council approved draft 2020-2023 strategy that will be submitted to the Government of Georgia for approval in the nearest days.
After the approval, 2020-2023 National Statistical Development Strategy of Georgia will be available for any interested user at Geostat’s web-site after the approval.
