In order to increase users access to the statistical data, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) has launched a new statistical product - an interactive external trade portal, which represents a qualitatively new direction in terms of data visualization and dissemination of external trade data.
The new portal represents one of the most important interactive platforms that provides for users of statistical information with external trade data in different contexts.
In addition, the portal contains detailed data reflecting trade flows, which up to now belonged to paid information, and GEOSTAT had been issuing them for a special fee. From now on, based on the Resolution of GEOSTAT’s Council, these data are available free of charge, which is of particular importance in the country and all over the world today.
With the new external trade portal, users have the opportunity, according to their own desire and need, to generate data on different export and import periods for commodity groups, depending on the countries and types of transportation, and also download it in excel format.
There is an interactive map of the world on the portal as well, with data from Georgia's trading partner countries, which is the best way to analyze external trade data. Here are the classifications used in data accounting, indicator calculation methodology and metadata.
The new product is available on GEOSTAT’s website from today, in Georgian and English languages. At the same time, the data on it will be updated on a monthly basis, in parallel with the dissemination of external trade data.
It is planned to develop similar products and services in the future. GEOSTAT continues to work actively on users needs, with a focus on high quality data production and at the same time, it focuses on developing modern means of disseminating data.
GEOSTAT aims to produce and offer the public high quality data in such forms, which simplifies its use and improves planning and decision making at all levels.
Reliable data equals to the right decision!
