The National Statistics Office of Georgia has presented a new portal - "Statistics for Kids and Teenagers". The Internet portal was developed with the financial and technical support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and aims to produce and disseminate statistical data in easily understandable forms for children, as well as to provide them with access to statistical data.
According to Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, “The new portal will allow children and teenagers to get useful information about the socio-economic and demographic situation of the country through modern visual means.”
"The portal will significantly help kids and teenagers to deepen their knowledge in statistics, improve their ability to perceive and analyze information correctly, become more aware of children's rights and make evidence-based decisions”, stated Mr. Gogita Todradze.
A representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Georgia addressed the audience during the presentation of the new Internet portal. “The main goal of the new portal is to promote the new Code on the Rights of the Child and increase children’s awareness about their rights,” said Mr. Ghassan Khalil, UNICEF Representative in Georgia. “UNICEF has been delighted to continue a very strong partnership with the National Statistics Office of Georgia, now on this initiative, and we are grateful to Sida for their tremendous support to make this happen. We hope that the portal will be of great interest to children and they will often use the information for studying, doing homework or working on various thematic projects. The portal will also develop children’s ability to properly perceive information, and will improve their analytical and logical skills”, added Khalil.
