The Meeting of the Bureau of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission For Social and the Pacific (ESCAP) Committee on Statistics was conducted today, on February 17.
Mt. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, leaded the Bureau meeting as the Chair of the ESCAP Committe on Statistics.
The goal of the meeting was discussion of the actions taken in terms of the decisions made at the 7th season of the Committee on Statistics as well as to the review the regional priority items for Asia and the Pacific in the agenda of the 52nd Season of the UN Statistical Commission. Among the discussed issues were the progress of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Environmental-economic accounting, Migration Statistics, Big data etc.
In his welcoming speech, Mr Todradze discussed the challenges facing by our country and the world during the pandemic, He briefed the participants of the meeting on the positive feedback of the 7th Season of the Committtee on Statistics and work of bureau on the dessions of the committee.
The meeting was attended by the bureau members, the heads of ESCAP Statistical Division secretariat and Statistics Offices of different countries, as well as the representatives of international and non-government organizations.
In closing, Executive Director of Geostat thanked the ESCAP Statistics Division secretariat and the participants for organization of the meeting and expressed his readiness for future fruitful cooperation.
