The National Statistics Office of Georgia has started field information meetings in the regions. The first meeting was held by Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat in Adjara.
A meeting was held in Batumi with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Mr. Tornike Rizhvadze. At the meeting, the parties discussed the main directions of the production of official statistics, as well as the plans of Geostat, and requirements and needs of users.
After the meeting with the Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Mr. Gogita Todradze held an extended meeting with the representatives of the Government of Adjara. The meeting was attended by all four ministers of the Government of Adjara, heads of LEPLs, mayors of municipalities, representatives of local government and self-government.
The main purpose of the meeting was to present the future plans of Geostat for local government and self-government, as well as to determine their requirements and needs.
According to Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, the use of statistical data will significantly help local government and self-government in making the right decisions. Moreover, such information meetings provide statistical information users with information on issues of interest to them.
"A working meeting of high importance was held with the representatives of Geostat. Adjara is the second region with economic activity, therefore it is important to produce accurate and transparent statistics in order to plan and finance the priority areas in the next period," said Mr. Jaba Putkaradze, Minister of Finance and Economy of Adjara.
Geostat plans to consult with local governments and self-governments in all regions, including active dialogue with users, exploring their requirements and needs to fill an information vacuum.
