The National Statistics Office of Georgia held a training seminar for media representatives on November 13-14. The meeting with journalists was held in the framework of the project: "Strengthening Geostat Infrastructure and Capacity Development", funded by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Swedish government.
During the two-day seminar, media representatives were provided with information on the production, dissemination and use of statistical data.
The seminar participants discussed important issues such as GDP, economic growth trends, foreign direct investments, foreign trade, employment / unemployment and wage statistics, etc. The participants of the two-day workshop received comprehensive information on modern data collection technologies and Geostat plans in this regard as well.
According to Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, such meetings with journalists are of high importance and will support to better inform media representatives about the current as well as planned developments in the agency. According to him, similar media seminars are planned in the future.
