Mr. Gogita Todradze Executive Director of Geostat participates in The Second Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific. The meeting is taking place from 16 to 19 November 2021 and is organized by ESCAP.
The meeting is attended by ministers, high-level officials, the heads of statistical offices, and high-level delegates in Asia and the Pacific, as well as by the representatives of international organizations.
The main topics of the Ministerial Conference are the development of the civil registration and vital statistics system for the Sustainable Development Goals implementation process, and the involvement of the governments and the international partners in this process. At the meeting, the delegates will discuss the status and challenges of the implementation of the Action Plan adopted by the Ministerial Conference in 2014.
During his statement, the Executive Director of Geostat briefed the participants on the current state of development of civil registration and vital statistics in Georgia and spoke about the reforms and changes in the area. According to him, all three goals of the Declaration adopted at the Ministerial conference in 2014 have been mainly achieved in the country and Geostat is actively working on the quality improvement issues.
Mr. Gogita Todradze also spoke about Geostat's future plans and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the UN, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other international partners for further improvement of the statistical system.
During the meeting, participants also will discuss the issues related to the improvement of the CRVS system during the COVID-19 Crisis, current challenges, and future plans.
