From February 15 - to February 18, 2022, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) has been hosting the experts of the International Trade Center within the framework of the five-year project of the International Trade Center - "Eastern Partnership Trade Assistance Service".
The purpose of the meetings is to analyze and evaluate the current situation related to the production of international trade statistics in services, as well as sharing international methodologies and practices.
Production of international trade statistics in services is one of the activities of the Strategy for the Development of the National System of Official Statistics of Georgia for 2020-2023 years in the direction of development of foreign sector statistics. It is also set out in the 2021-2023 Action Plan for the Implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with the European Union.
Within the framework of this project, several meetings were held during 2021 with the involvement of the experts of the International Trade Center with active involvement of GEOSTAT’s staff and the National Bank of Georgia.
Straight after the end of the visit, the experts of the International Trade Center will issue recommendations on the production of international trade statistics in accordance with best international practices.
