The meeting of the Bureau of the Committee on Statistics of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was held today, on June 27, 2022.
The 8th meeting of the Bureau was chaired by Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat and the Chair of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics.
The Executive Director of Geostat welcomed the members of the Bureau and noted that today is the last meeting of the Bureau with existing members, and the election of new members will take place at the eighth session of the UN ESCAP Committee on Statistics, scheduled for August 23-25.
During the meeting, Mr. Gogita Todradze discussed the cooperation in the field of statistics and the opportunities for the development of official statistics at the regional and national levels in accordance with the existing commitments as well.
The meeting was attended by members of the Bureau, heads of the UN ESCAP Statistics Division and the statistics offices of various countries, as well as representatives of international and non-governmental organizations.
At the end of the meeting, the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office expressed the gratitude towards the members of the UN ESCAP Statistics Division and Bureau for two years of fruitful cooperation and work done.
