Mr. Gogita Todradze Opened the Meeting Related to the Energy Issues

Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director  of Geostat attended a high-level meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The meeting  “Stakeholder Consultation and Capacity Building on the penetration of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency technologies in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Georgia” was organized with the support of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP).  

 

The main topic of the meeting was the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals related to the energy issues as well as recommendation on the improvement of energy efficacy in industrial sector.  

 

The Executive Director of Geostat addressed the audience with opening speech and spoke about the important steps taken by Georgia for the implementation of sustainable development goals and the 2030 agenda as well as about the global importance of sustainable energy. 

 

The Deputy Secretary General of the UN ESCAP, the Deputy Ministers of  the Ministry of Economy and  Sustainable Development  of Georgia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia also participated in the opening part of the meeting.

 

In his statement Mr. Gogita Todradze highlighted the significance of the well-developed and coordinated National Statistical System and the availability of the high-quality of data for the progress monitoring of the implementation of the SDGs and the Agenda 2030. Mr. Todradze also emetized the importance of the energy statistics and introduced the participants with the significant steps and future plans of Geostat in this sector.    

 

Mr Gogita Todradze expressed his gratitude to the UN ESCAP and other involved stakeholders for the development of the SDG 7 roadmap for Georgia and performed work during these two years and expressed his readiness for the future cooperation.   

 

The meeting was attended by the high-level delegates of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia as well as the international organizations and the relevant sector representatives from different countries.
