The National Statistical Office of Georgia hosts a four-day technical support mission of international experts. The mission brings together representatives of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), statistical services of individual EU countries and independent experts as well.
The goal of the mission is to facilitate the development of a road map for the introduction of a process-oriented organizational structure in accordance with the UN Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM).
The GSBPM is a comprehensive and integrated UN framework document for the production and dissemination of high-quality official statistics. Worldwide, this model has been implemented by the statistical services of more than 50 countries.
The modernization of the statistical production process and the Geostat transition to the "functional" model is part of the goals under the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics in Georgia (2020-2023).
Today, using highest possible administrative sources for statistical purposes and moving to the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) in line with standardized information technology systems and methodologies is of high importance for the national statistical system of Georgia.
The mission of international experts includes working meetings both with the management of Geostat and with the relevant sectoral and methodology-responsible departments.
