The National Statistical Office of Georgia presented a new statistical product – Agriculture Statistics Portal.
Mr. Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of Geostat Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, Deputy Minister of Ministry Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Ms. Nino Tsilosani Chairman of the Agrarian Affairs committee, of Parliament of Georgia and Mr. Demna Dzirkvadze Representative of the US Dapartment of Agriculture in Georgia addressed the audience with opening speeches.
According to Mr. Gogita Todradze, the new portal of Agriculture Statistics allows the user to get the necessary information about Agriculture Statistics and Food Balances in single space.
National Statistics Office of Georgia developed the portal with the financial and technical support of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The portal serves as a singular gateway providing easy access to statistical information about agriculture statistics. Moreover, it gives users the opportunity to analyze Agriculture data in single space with interactive data visualization tools and infographics.
Agriculture Statistics Portal consists of five modules: Plant growing; Animal husbandry; Aquaculture; Food Balances and General information.
Module 1 - Plant growing - presents the data on production of annual and permanent crops, sown areas, harvested areas and average yield of annual crops and a price at the farm-gate by years. Module 2 - Animal husbandry - presents the information on number of livestock, livestock production, litters and losses of livestock by years. Module 3 – Aquaculture - the user will get the information on production of fish in aquaculture, fish in waterbodies, share of sold fish and a price at the farm-gate, as well as fish species by years. Module 4 – Food Balance – consists information about such as important products as: wheat, corn, maize, potatoes, vegetables and others. The Food Balance section presents the above-mentioned products, their use, annual consumption and self-sufficiency ratio. Module 5 – General information - presents the agriculture statistical indicator related to the business sector, foreign direct investment, prices statistics, gender statistics, national accounts, employment and wages etc.
GEOSTAT aims to produce and offer the public high-quality data in such forms, which simplifies its use and improves planning and decision making at all levels.
