Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat participates in the Conference of the Directors General of the National Statistical Institutes (DGINS), organized by the Eurostat and the Central Statistics Office of Ireland. The event is held from 18 to 19 October in Cork, Ireland.
This platform was established in 1953 in Luxembourg. Since then, the conference has been held annually and it is attended by the heads of National Statistical Offices of the European countries, the Eurostat, the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Georgia participates in this conference for the second year, together with the heads of NSOs of Moldova and Ukraine.
The conference is hosted annually by different EU countries. It’s services as a platform for discussing strategic initiatives and current developments in the field of statistics.
The topic of the current conference is the challenges and opportunities for official statistics in the context of climate change and the energy crisis. Moreover, the conference aims to facilitate active dialogues on the current topic.
In addition, the use of modern technologies and the identification of new sources for producing official statistics that is crucial for evidence-based decisions will be discussed at the conference. The participants also will focus on the factors of contributing the introduction of innovations.
At the conference, the participants have the opportunity to share their country's experience, to introduce plans and the results achieved on various issues.
