On February 12, Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat participated in a panel discussion organized by the Statistics Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) - Data Governance across Asia and the Pacific.
The discussion was held oonline and its main topic was the data governance in Asia and the Pacific region and the role of National Statistics Offices.
The Executive Director of Geostat discussed the data governance policies in the country, the institutions involved, the Data sharing, accessibility and integration. In his speech Mr. Gogita Todradze emphasized the challenges of data governance and the necessary measures.
In addition, Mr. Gogita Todradze highlighted significance of the strong legislative framework for the production of independent, objective, and reliable official statistics and the of coordinating role of NSOs.
Together with the Executive Director of Geostat, the meeting was attended by the Director of Statistics Division at UN Economic Commission for Asia and Pacific, Regional Adviser of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), heads of the National Statistics Offices of the region and representatives of international organizations.
