Mr. Gogita Todradze participates in High-Level Panel Discussions

Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of GEOSTAT, is participating in High-Level panel discussions at the international conference taking place on June 10-14 in Bilbao, Spain.

 

The conference aims to enhance the use of alternative data sources and modern data collection technologies in the production of official statistics amidst growing challenges and opportunities. The aim of the meeting is to define relevant strategic goals and share best practices among countries. Additionally, the conference will address issues related to the use of "Big Data," including mobile communication data, in the production of official statistics, and explore the potential ways to solve these problems.

 

Within the framework of the conference, Mr. Gogita Todradze participated in various panel discussions and workshops organized by the United Nations and other international organizations. During his presentation, he addressed the audience on the development of alternative data sources and the use of modern data collection technologies in Georgia. He highlighted the use of mobile data for producing internal migration and local tourism statistics, the use of web scraping for generating the Real Estate Price Index (RPPI), and the potential of using scanner data for calculating the Consumer Price Index(CPI).

 

About 300 representatives from various countries were participated in the conference, including the heads of statistical institutions, representatives of international and local organizations, as well as experts, and high officials.
