The National Statistics Office of Georgia started the Population and Agricultural Census in some mountainous regions from September 18.
The Population Census in Georgia will be conducted from November 14 to December 19, however, due to possible deterioration of the weather and difficult meteorological conditions, in some high-mountainous and hard-to-reach administrative units, namely - Mestia, Lentekhi, Kazbegi, in some administrative units of Dusheti (Gudamakari, Kvesheti, Khevsureti, Ukanapshavi,Shatili, Magharoskari and Pasanauri) and Akhmeta municipality ( only in the administrative unit of Omalo), the Population Census will be conducted in the period from September 18 to October 8, 2024.
Mr.Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat held an informational meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality Mr. Kapiton Zhorzholiani within the framework of the Population and Agricultural Census that has started in the municipality of Mestia. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of local governments and self-government bodies of various administrative units.
During the meeting, Mr. Gogita Todradze highlited the goals and objectives, the date of the census, the methods of data collection, the methodology and the content of the questionnaire.
In the above- mentioned municipalities, the population will be interviewed by the 120 trained Geostat interviewers, using tablet computers on a door-to-door basis.
Preliminary results of the census will be published in June 2025, as for final results will be available in June 2026.
