Geostat Participates in an International Mission

The National Statistics Office of Georgia continues an active international cooperation. At this stage, cooperation includes participation in the assessment process of the Bureau of National Statistics Agency for Strategic Planing and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where Geostat is represented by Mr. Irakli Apkhaidze, Deputy Executive Director.

 

The assessment mission hosted in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. The international experts from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), representatives of Italy National Institute of Statistics, Belgium and Armenia conduct the assessment mission.

 

The main objective of the sectoral review is assessment of the current level of environmental statistics in the Bureau of National Statistics Agency for Strategic Planing and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan and determine its compatibility with international standards. During the mission, several meetings will be held with the employees of the Bureau of National Statistics Agency for Strategic Planing and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of relevant ministries, international organizations and various agencies working on environmental issues in the country, as well as users of statistical information (media, academia and business sector).

 

The mission will prepare the final report and recommendations after conclusion of the assessment the environmental statistics in Kazakhstan. The guidelines will help the statistical system of Kazakhstan for further improvement.

 

The international mission takes place from September 24-27.2024. Within the framework of the mission, Mr.Irakli Apkhaidze will lead several sessions, covering economic and fiscal accounts of the environment, data dissemination and communication with users.
