Information meeting with the local and self-governmental representatives

The National Statistics Office of Georgia held a working meeting with the local and self-governmental representatives of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions.

 

Meeting was held on 19-20 October in Borjomi with the financial support of the UN Women.

 

Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, was chairing the meeting, attended by the representatives of regional administrations and municipalities of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli.

 

During this two-day meeting, participants were introduced with the results of the Gender Statistics survey conducted by Geostat, in particular, the methodological reviews and key findings of the Time Use Survey and the National Study on Violence against Women. In addition, participants were introduced to the portal of regional and municipal statistics, main directions of development of statistical system, products and services and the future plans of Geostat. Besides, participants discussed the methodology for statistical indicators and issues related to their use. During the meeting were discussed the Gender Statistics indicators and data needs in decision-making and planning process. 

 

Ms. Tamar Frangishvili the Project Coordinator of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) introduced the presentation "Gender statistics and its importance for municipalities: the minimum list of indicators".

 

Within the framework of the meeting participants discussed the needs related to the statistical data and the possibilities of introducing them in Geostat’s future plans.
