A Session of the Board was held in Geostat.Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat and the Chair of the Board, at the same time, presented to the members of the Board information about the implemented work and planned activities within the framework of the 2024 Population and Agricultural Census.
The Population and Agricultural Census of Georgia will be conducted from November 14 to December 19, 2024.The census includes 2 stages:
In the first stage, from November 14-23, the data will be collected by the self-registration method (CAWI). Self-registration is a data collection method where respondents fill out questionnaires electronically themselves, without interviewers, via a computer/tablet/smartphone using a standard internet browser. Using this method is convenient for respondents who do not want interviewer's visit at home or do not have enough time for a face-to-face interview.
National Statistics Office of Georgia has created a special web platform, which is integrated on Geostat's website, for those who prefers self-registration https://census2024.geostat.ge/en/
In the second stage, from November 29 to December 19, the data will be collected by the Geostat interviewers through door-to-door method, using tablets.
Mr.Gogita Todradze also spoke about conducting the census in some high-mountainous settlements. Due to possible deterioration of the weather and difficult meteorological conditions, in some high-mountainous and hard-to-reach administrative units, namely - Mestia, Lentekhi, Kazbegi, in some administrative units of Dusheti (Gudamakari, Kvesheti, Khevsureti, Ukanapshavi,Shatili, Magharoskari and Pasanauri) and Akhmeta municipality ( only in the administrative unit of Omalo), the Population Census was conducted in the period from 20 September to October 8, 2024.
As part of the Census, accurate and up-to-date data will be available on population size, age and sex structure, various demographic and socio-economic characteristics, as well as on the agricultural activity of households at the level of self-governing units and settlements.
