The process of self- registration of the Population and Agricultural Census 2024 will be proceeded to November 28. Accordingly, the self-registration platform will close on November 28 instead of 23.
The high activity and demand of the population is the reason of extending the self-registration period. Tens of thousands of citizens have already used the self-registration method; the process is actively underway and their number is growing.
Therefore, due to high public interest, Geostat has decided to extend the self-registration process within the scope of the census for another five days - until November 28.
Data collection has started on November 14, using the self-registration method.
During self-registration, respondents fill out the census questionnaire independently, without Geostat interviewers, via a computer/tablet/smartphone at a time and place convenient for them. The questionnaire is available on the Geostat website: https://census2024.geostat.ge/ka. The self-registration method is convenient for respondents who do not have enough time for a face-to-face interview or prefer not to have interviewer visiting their home. After completing the electronic questionnaire, respondents will receive a special code, which must be presented to the Geostat interviewer when they visit them to confirm their participation in the census.
After completing self-registration process, from November 29 to December 19, the data will be collected by approximately 12,000 Geostat interviewers through the door-to-door method, using tablets.
The Agricultural Census will be carried out together with the Population Census in 2024. Thus, along with the socio-demographic data, the information on households’ agricultural activities will be collected through a special questionnaire. In particular, this will include data on the structure of land used by households, the number of livestock and poultry, and other important information at the level of municipalities, territorial units, and villages.
All citizens of Georgia, as well as all citizens of foreign countries (who plan to stay in Georgia for more than 12 months) and stateless persons (who plan to stay in Georgia for more than 12 months) living in the territory of Georgia, are obliged to participate in the census.
According to Articles 34 and 35 of the Law of Georgia "On Official Statistics", individual data are confidential and not subject to disclosure. Individual data about the respondent is stored in the manner established by the current legislation of Georgia.
As part of the Census, accurate and up-to-date data will be available on population size, age and sex structure, various demographic and socio-economic characteristics, as well as on the agricultural activity of households at the level of self-governing units and settlements.
The preliminary results of the census will be published in June 2025, and the final results following- in June 2026.
