As a result of close cooperation between Geostat and the Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, new indicators on international migration statistics, specifically related to the acquisition and loss of Georgian citizenship were published in April 2025.
The data processing and dissemination were carried out within the framework of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics of Georgia for 2024–2027, with the aim of improving international (external) migration statistics.
The new indicator is available from 2015 and is disaggregated by sex, age groups, countries of birth, and previous/subsequent countries of citizenship. The data has been processed using the appropriate methodology and provides an important basis for analyzing migration processes and effectively planning migration policy.
