Energy balance drawn up in line with international standards

Vice Premier/ Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze, Executive director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia Meri Daushvili and representatives of energy companies attended the presentation on the energy balance of Georgia.
In 2013 the Ministry of Energy, National Statistics Office and the European Union program INOGATE signed a memorandum of cooperation, according to which the action plan of energy statistics have been drawn up. The Geostat started the activities related to the drawing up of the energy balance for the development of energy statistics and in compliance with the international standards. Notably the latest official energy balance was developed by the Statistics Office in 2002 and since then not worked out.
The energy balance have been drawn up due to the growing interest of wide range of users, since it represents the best tool for the local and global policy planning.
In the process of development of the energy balance active cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of Georgia and the National Statistics Office of Georgia made major contribution to the improvement of the survey questionnaires and methodology.
As for the production of the complete balance, international cooperation and methodological support of the EU program INOGATE greatly contributed to the success of this activity.
New 2013 energy balance is drawn up based on the recommendations of the International Energy Agency and is fully in line with international standards.
