Publication of New Indicators of Price Indices and Update of Weights for the Producer Price Index

The National Statistics Office of Georgia has started publication of two new statistical indicators-Domestic Producer Price Index (DPPI) and Import Price Index (MPI).
The Domestic Producer Price Index measures change of average price level of industrial products produced for the domestic market over the base period. Along with the Export Price Index, DPPI constitutes the total Producer Price Index (PPI).
The Import Price Index measures a change of average price level of imported industrial products over a base period. Weights structure of the index is based on an external trade information.
Publication of new indices will improve precision level of price indices and will provide detailed information to the users.
Sample of companies and weights for the PPI of 2017 were updated based on a latest, precise information of production and the National Accounts data. For the PPI more than 500 companies are surveyed and more than 200 product group prices are observed. Aggregation of indices is conducted based on a Statistical Classification of Products by Activity (CPA).
Monthly indices will be published by the 20th day following the reference month.
