The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) provided technical assistance to the National Statistics Office of Georgia. Today the representatives of USDA Mr. Demna Dzirkvadze and Mr. Michael Steiner were presented computer equipment and agricultural census publications and brochures to Geostat staff members.
Technical assistance (12 computers, laptop, projector and screen) transmitted by USDA is designed to improve the producing Agricultural statistics of Geostat.
USDA has published over 800 publications and 15 000 brochures of Georgia's Agricultural Census in the framework of technical assistance. The publications contains various information about agriculture in Georgia as a result of Agricultural Census: the structure of land use, land tenure, numbers of livestock, the use of machinery and number of owning their own land as well as production of agricultural products. The Publications are addressed to users of agricultural statistics. Geostat has been actively cooperating with the United States Department of Agriculture since 2005 in terms of developing agricultural statistics.
The USDA has been an important partner for many years and provided the technical and methodological support to Geostat in terms of improving agricultural statistics .
